Lahj, Yemen – A Yemeni security campaign on Friday seized a shipment of drugs off the coast of Al-Mudharabah and Ras Al-Arah districts, near Bab al-Mandab in Lahj Governorate. This followed a meticulous tracking and monitoring operation.
Details of the seizures and the arrest of the smugglers
The Giants Brigades reported that the seized boat was carrying four smugglers, who were detained for further investigation. The shipment included 521 kilograms of methamphetamine and 102 kilograms of heroin, which were confiscated according to legal procedures.
Previous operations along the same path
In the same context, the security campaign reported that at the beginning of March, a smuggling boat coming from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and heading to the Houthis was seized, carrying 3,000 cartons of unauthorized medicines. Additionally, in February, a shipment containing 450 bags of Captagon tablets and five large sacks loaded with additional quantities of narcotics was seized.
Ongoing efforts to combat smuggling
The Giants Brigades emphasized the continuation of maritime surveillance operations to ensure coastal security and combat drug and contraband smuggling. This contributes to maintaining national security and stability and enhances the authorities’ ability to address any potential threats that could affect Yemeni society.
