Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli military announced that a drone was launched from Lebanon toward the Galilee region. It confirmed that the incident is currently under investigation to determine its full details. This followed a warning siren about an incursion near the front line on the northern border with Lebanon.
Alert areas and ongoing investigation
The Israeli Home Front Command reported that sirens sounded in Galilee towns, including Kiryat Shmona, Metula, Agar, and Margaliot. It also indicated that the incident had concluded after the activation of air defense and monitoring systems. An Israeli military spokesperson stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the drone’s flight path. He added that they are also working to ascertain whether it posed a direct threat to Israeli territory.
The airspace remains closed.
Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev confirmed that Israel’s airspace remains closed, contrary to reports suggesting it might be reopened. She also indicated that any decision to reopen the airspace would depend on security developments and consultations with neighboring countries.
Ongoing tension on the northern border
This development comes amid escalating tensions on the northern border with Lebanon, where the area has witnessed a series of military warnings and frequent air raid alerts. The Israeli army continues to closely monitor the situation and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the population. Simultaneously, surveillance and patrol operations continue to prevent any infiltration or potential threat in the Galilee and surrounding areas.
