Johannesburg, South Africa – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa launched a scathing attack on the administration of US President Donald Trump,
Accusing Washington of spreading “misleading information”
about the situation of the white minority in the country,
This comes after repeated statements by Trump alleging that
a “genocide” has taken place against Africans.
Ramaphosa said in a televised address that
the justifications provided by the United States
Her absence from the G20 summit hosted by Johannesburg
was “based on unfounded allegations.”
He stressed that his country does not practice any form of persecution
or systematic land grabbing of white people, as the American president claims.
South Africa: An organized disinformation campaign
President Ramaphosa added that what he called an “organized disinformation campaign”
was being promoted both inside and outside South Africa.
This is aimed at tarnishing the country’s image and undermining its interests.
He warned that the continuation of these campaigns “negatively affects the economy,
job opportunities and relations with international partners.”
Relations between the two countries have recently deteriorated following
the United States’ withdrawal from the summit.
Trump announced that he would not invite South Africa to participate
in the upcoming summit scheduled to be held in Miami.
Despite the escalating tension, Ramaphosa stressed
his country’s readiness “to continue the dialogue.”
With Washington on the basis of “mutual respect
and equal sovereignty between the two countries.”
