Tehran, Iran -Iranian state media reported on Tuesday that a fire broke out at an oil refinery located

in the Jannatabad industrial zone in Semnan province, in the center of the country.

It resulted in the death of at least one person

and injuries of varying severity to three others.

The official Iranian news agency explained that firefighting teams rushed

to the scene as soon as the fire broke out.

Causes of fire outbreak

They managed to control the oil refinery fire after hours of continuous efforts.

The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

She noted that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Which caused serious material damage to the facility.

Semnan province is one of the regions that includes a number of small

and medium-sized industrial facilities and oil refineries.

Similar incidents sometimes occur as a result of technical malfunctions

or weak safety procedures, according to local media reports.

Sabotage operations

This oil refinery incident comes after a series of fires and explosions

that Iran has witnessed in recent months at oil and industrial facilities,

some of which have been attributed to technical malfunctions.

While some analysts have linked others to acts of sabotage

or mismanagement of energy infrastructure.

Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official statement explaining

the exact causes of the fire or whether there is any suspicion of sabotage.

But local officials confirmed that emergency teams are continuing cooling

and assessment operations.

This is to determine the extent of the final damage

and to ensure that the fire does not reignite.
