Ankara, Turkey – Renowned Turkish actor Kadir İnanır has passed away at the age of 77 following a battle with a complex health crisis that ended in his death at a hospital, bringing the curtain down on a long artistic career that established him as one of Turkish cinema’s most prominent, enduring, and influential stars over the decades.
Death following the deterioration of his health condition
Inanir had been hospitalized following a sudden health crisis and admitted to the intensive care unit; medical reports revealed he was suffering from severe pneumonia, along with other health issues, leading to a significant deterioration in his condition until he passed away.
An Early Start in Art
Kadir İnanır is considered one of the most prominent figures in Turkish cinema; born on April 15, 1949, in the Turkish city of Fatsa, he was the youngest member of his family. His artistic talent emerged during his school years, as he participated in numerous theatrical productions throughout primary and secondary school—experiences that paved the way for his entry into the world of acting.
The Launch to Stardom
After graduating from Haydarpaşa High School in Istanbul, he enrolled in the Radio and Television Department at Marmara University’s Faculty of Communication. He began his artistic career with a small role in the 1968 film *Seven Steps Later* (*Yedi Adım Sonra*), before achieving his major breakthrough in 1970 with the film *Kara Gözlüm*.
A famous cinematic duo
Inanir co-starred with Turkish star Türkan Şoray in the film *Kara Gözlüm* under the direction of Atıf Yılmaz. Together, they formed one of the most famous duos in the history of Turkish cinema, delivering a number of films that achieved widespread success and left a significant mark on the history of Turkish art.
