Cairo, Egypt – The Cairo Criminal Court acquitted actress Gihan El-Shamashirgy and four other defendants of charges involving the robbery of a woman by force, in the case widely known in the media as the robbery of the actress’s friend.

Jihan El-Shamashirji arrived this morning at the Abdeen Courthouse complex in downtown Cairo for the verdict hearing, appearing tense and anxious as she awaited the court’s decision on the case.
Details of the charges
The Public Prosecution referred five defendants to criminal trial in Case No. 6553 of 2025 (Felonies – Qasr El Nil Precinct)—registered as No. 1434 of 2025 (Central Cairo Felony Circuit)—on charges of forcibly stealing movable property belonging to a woman and causing her injury during the incident.
Court Decision
After hearing the case and the arguments presented by the defense and the prosecution, the court issued a verdict acquitting all the defendants of the charges brought against them.
