The film’s revenue was split between $62,232,000 in US theaters and $39 million from international markets, allowing it to maintain its strong presence among action and fantasy films this season.
Events of the new part
The story revolves around the heroes of Earth’s world who find themselves facing a new and more violent confrontation, after the Dark Emperor Shao Kan threatens to invade and completely control Earth’s world, in a fateful battle that threatens everyone.
The new installment sees Johnny Cage’s character join the fighting team, adding new dimensions to the events, especially with the expansion of battles between different worlds, the emergence of dangerous alliances, and legendary warriors engaged in a fierce struggle for survival. Regarding filming and production details, the film is a continuation of the events of the first part, which was released in 2021. Filming began in Australia in June before being temporarily halted due to a Screen Actors Guild strike. Filming resumed and is scheduled to be completed in January 2024.
