Washington, USA – Mortal Kombat II continues to achieve remarkable numbers at the global box office, reaching $101,232,000 in revenue since its release on May 8. Produced by Warner Bros., the film has a runtime of 1 hour and 56 minutes.

Strong revenues in the global market

The film’s revenue was split between $62,232,000 in US theaters and $39 million from international markets, allowing it to maintain its strong presence among action and fantasy films this season.

Events of the new part

The story revolves around the heroes of Earth’s world who find themselves facing a new and more violent confrontation, after the Dark Emperor Shao Kan threatens to invade and completely control Earth’s world, in a fateful battle that threatens everyone.

The new installment sees Johnny Cage’s character join the fighting team, adding new dimensions to the events, especially with the expansion of battles between different worlds, the emergence of dangerous alliances, and legendary warriors engaged in a fierce struggle for survival. Regarding filming and production details, the film is a continuation of the events of the first part, which was released in 2021. Filming began in Australia in June before being temporarily halted due to a Screen Actors Guild strike. Filming resumed and is scheduled to be completed in January 2024.

The film’s heroes

The film features a large number of action and fantasy stars, including Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mekad Brooks, Tati Gabriel, Louis Tan, Damon Herriman, and Martin Ford, along with Max Huang, Chen Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
