Dubai, UAE – The General Administration of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (Dubai Residency) participated in the third edition of the “Al-Freij Refrigerator” initiative. Organized by the Farjan Dubai Foundation, with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation. In cooperation with the Emirates Water Foundation and the Emirates Food Bank. With the aim of distributing cold water, juices and ice cream to the workforce at their work sites during the summer months.
Dubai Residence’s participation contributed to reaching four different locations in the Emirate of Dubai, and distributing more than 58,000 packages of cold water, juices and ice cream. With the participation of 70 volunteers from the administration’s employees, for a total of 280 volunteer hours, in addition to six volunteers from Farjan Dubai.
More than 18,000 people have benefited from the initiative. The initiative aims to reach the largest possible segment of workers in the cleaning and construction sectors. Delivery drivers, agricultural workers, and street and road maintenance workers. Refrigerated vehicles roam a number of densely populated areas in the emirate, providing cold refreshments. Mitigating the effects of rising temperatures, and supporting efforts to prevent stress, dehydration, and health risks associated with rising temperatures.
