San Diego, United States – The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi signed a strategic cooperation agreement with MSD International Pharmaceutical Company, also known as Merck & Co. Inc., New Jersey, United States. To discuss the establishment of a healthcare logistics center within the Health, Medicine and Fitness for Sustainable Living complex in Abu Dhabi. This enhances the security of regional medical supply chains, accelerates the arrival of innovative treatments, and establishes the emirate’s position as a global center for life sciences.
The agreement was signed as part of Abu Dhabi’s participation in the Biotechnology Innovation Organization’s 2026 World Conference. Held in San Diego, USA. In a move that reflects the emirate’s commitment to developing an integrated health system based on innovation, and strengthening its position as a reliable global center for operational excellence and innovation in the health sector.
Enhancing the flexibility of supply chains
Upon completion of all necessary approvals and its establishment, the center will support the transportation and distribution of a range of pharmaceutical products to a number of regional markets. This enhances the resilience of supply chains in the region and improves access to innovative treatments. It provides the infrastructure needed to support the commercialization and scaling of next-generation healthcare innovations.
