Baku, Azerbaijan – Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, met with Mazen Turki Al Qadi, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, to discuss ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
They also discussed coordinating positions on issues on the agenda of the 20th session
of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Confirmation of the strength of bilateral relations
During the meeting, both sides affirmed the strength of the fraternal and historical relations
that bind the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
They noted the continuous development of these relations across various fields,
supported and guided by the leadership of both countries.
This reflects the depth of their shared bonds and their commitment to enhancing cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both peoples.
They also emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint consultation on various issues of mutual interest.
This contributes to strengthening the bilateral partnership and supporting stability and development.
The role of parliamentary diplomacy
Both sides emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting bilateral relations
and developing frameworks for cooperation and coordination between legislative institutions.
This strengthens dialogue and serves common interests at the regional and international levels.
They also agreed to continue exchanging expertise and best parliamentary practices.
Furthermore, they affirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation between the Federal National Council
and the Jordanian House of Representatives in various regional and international parliamentary forums.
Supporting global security and economic stability
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting regional and international security and stability.
They also emphasized the importance of ensuring the continued flow of energy supplies and maintaining the stability of the global economy.
They noted that any obstruction, closure, or interference with maritime
navigation poses a direct threat to the security of the region and its people.
It also negatively impacts international trade, supply chains, and global food security.
Furthermore, it constitutes a violation of international law and a threat to international peace and security.
Several members of the Federal National Council delegation participating in the conference attended the meeting.
Emirati officials and diplomats also participated, including the UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
