Abu Dhabi, UAE – The General Women’s Union met with Serbia’s Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Domestic Violence, Tatjana Matsuura, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in the field of women’s empowerment.

They also discussed exchanging expertise related to enhancing women’s role in society

and strengthening their participation in sustainable development.

Joint cooperation on women’s issues

Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union,

received the Serbian Minister and her accompanying delegation at the Union’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE

and Serbia on issues related to women’s empowerment and social protection.

The two sides discussed the possibility of launching joint development projects that would benefit women economically and socially.

They also discussed exchanging best practices and policies that support strengthening the role of women

as essential partners in the development process at both the local and international levels.

Showcasing the achievements of Emirati women

The meeting included a review of the achievements of Emirati women,

made possible by the support and vision of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation.”

The Serbian Minister was also briefed on the initiatives and programs implemented

by the General Women’s Union to enhance women’s participation in various vital sectors.

At the end of the visit, the Serbian Minister toured the Union’s facilities,

including the “Al Jawhara Hall,” the permanent exhibition of traditional crafts, and the traditional tent.

She also learned about aspects of Emirati heritage and the efforts made to preserve the national cultural identity.
