London, United Kingdom – Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Yvette Cooper, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development,
to discuss strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them across various sectors.
They also reviewed key regional and international developments.
Regional developments and maritime security
The meeting, held in London during a working visit, addressed the repercussions of
the attacks targeting civilian sites and facilities in the UAE using missiles and drones.
Discussions focused on the direct threat these attacks pose to regional security and stability,
international maritime security, and energy supply chains.
Baraka and radiation safety
The two sides also discussed the incident that resulted in a fire at an electrical generator
outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region.
Both sides confirmed that there were no injuries or impact on radiation safety levels.
This comes as the relevant authorities continue to monitor the situation and take the necessary measures to ensure complete safety.
Strengthening bilateral and international cooperation
The British Foreign Secretary affirmed her country’s solidarity with the UAE and condemned these attacks.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for the British stance,
emphasizing the deep historical and strategic ties between the two nations.
