Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting an Indian-flagged vessel off the coast of Oman. It affirmed that the incident poses a direct threat to the safety of international navigation and undermines the security of vital maritime routes.
A firm rejection of targeting navigation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this attack constitutes a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of freedom of navigation.
It also threatens the stability of global trade, particularly in strategic maritime routes
upon which energy security and international supply chains depend.
The Ministry emphasized that targeting commercial vessels and using maritime routes as tools of pressure
or extortion is unacceptable behavior that undermines international rules governing maritime navigation.
It indicated that such actions amount to piracy and necessitate a firm international response.
Solidarity with India and support for maritime protection
The UAE reiterated its full solidarity with the friendly Republic of India
and its support for all measures taken to protect its ships and maritime interests.
This is being done to ensure the safety of navigation and the protection of civilian crews on board commercial vessels.
The Ministry also stressed that the international community is called
upon to strengthen cooperation to confront the escalating threats to maritime security in the region.
Efforts must also be made to deter any attempts to destabilize international maritime routes.
Repeated condemnation of the naval escalation
This stance comes amidst a series of repeated condemnations issued
by the UAE recently regarding attacks on commercial vessels in the region.
The UAE has emphasized that the security of maritime routes is a fundamental component of regional
and international security and stability, and cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
