Sharjah, UAE – Sharjah Digital Department has launched a specialized training program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geographic Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) applications using ESRI products. As part of its strategic efforts to promote and support digital transformation in the field of geographic information systems,

The program aims to enhance digital capabilities and build geospatial awareness among government agencies. Enabling it to employ geographic information systems technologies to support the digital transformation process in the emirate.

This program includes spatial analysis applications and smart driving screens that contribute to supporting decision-making based on geospatial data.

Improving the efficiency of government performance

The program includes an integrated series of basic and advanced training courses focusing on the ESRI ArcGIS platform and its applications. Providing participants with practical skills in spatial data analysis and geographic data management. This contributes to raising the efficiency of government performance and enhancing the effectiveness of the services provided.

The program is implemented in cooperation with the Sharjah Human Resources Department and targets employees of government agencies in the emirate. It extends over the course of an entire year through a group of specialized training workshops that aim to build sustainable and cumulative capabilities in this vital field.

Eng. Lamia Al-Hussan Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Digital Department, said: “Investing in building the digital capabilities of government cadres represents a fundamental pillar for achieving a sustainable and influential digital transformation. Through this program, we work to enable government agencies to employ geographic information systems and geographic artificial intelligence technologies as strategic tools that support decision-making and enhance the efficiency of government operations. Employing spatial data intelligently opens new horizons for understanding challenges and opportunities, and contributes to developing more integrated and innovative services. In support of the Emirate of Sharjah’s efforts to achieve a sustainable digital transformation that places people at the forefront of priorities.

She added: “This programme embodies the Sharjah government’s approach based on partnership and integration across various sectors. Based on a firm belief that digital transformation is a shared responsibility that is not limited to one sector or entity over another. Rather, it is based on effective cooperation, exchange of experiences, transfer of knowledge, benefiting from best global practices and experiences, in addition to continuous learning and building competencies.”

The launch of this program reflects Sharjah Digital Department’s commitment to continuing to develop an integrated digital system that enables government agencies to benefit from advanced technologies. It consolidates Sharjah’s position as a leading model in adopting innovative digital solutions across the region.
