Abu Dhabi, UAE – The 18th session of the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue was held in Abu Dhabi, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their comprehensive bilateral partnership across various political, economic, cultural, and technological fields. This comes within the framework of the longstanding strategic relationship between the two countries. The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on regional and international issues. Furthermore, avenues for development and innovation cooperation were reviewed, reflecting both sides’ keenness to cultivate a deeper and more sustainable partnership for the future.
A shared stance on regional issues
Both sides strongly condemned the attacks attributed to Iran against countries in the region, emphasizing their rejection of any threat to international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They considered such actions a violation of international law. They also stressed the importance of keeping maritime routes open for global trade. Furthermore, they supported international efforts to enhance maritime security. Discussions also touched upon developments in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, and Ukraine. Both sides affirmed their support for political solutions, a ceasefire, and the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
Growing economic and technological cooperation
Both sides welcomed the expansion of cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, infrastructure, aviation, and energy. They also focused on projects related to artificial intelligence, renewable energy, nuclear power, and liquefied natural gas. The importance of cooperation in developing airports and aviation infrastructure was also emphasized. Furthermore, partnerships between Emirati and French institutions in innovation and advanced technologies were supported, which will enhance shared economic growth.
Extended cultural, educational, and health partnership
Both sides commended the Louvre Abu Dhabi for its role as a symbol of cultural cooperation and for the expansion of educational and university programs, particularly those offered by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. They also discussed strengthening cooperation in the fields of health, space, and scientific research, including medical innovation and space technologies. Programs for exchanging expertise and developing human capital between the two countries continued, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the UAE and France.
