Abu Dhabi, UAE – In an extraordinary display of resilience and determination, the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip hosted a massive mass wedding for 300 brides and grooms. The event was made possible with the support of the United Arab Emirates as part of Operation “Al Fares Al Shahm 3” (The Noble Knight 3). The initiative was also known as “Thawb Al Farah 2” (The Dress of Joy 2). The ceremony, held on April 24, 2026, was attended by a large crowd of families of the newlyweds. The festive atmosphere reflected the Palestinians’ unwavering hope and commitment to stability despite the difficult economic and humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
This event is part of a series of humanitarian initiatives implemented by the UAE in Gaza. Operation “The Noble Knight 3” aims to support the most vulnerable groups and promote social stability.
In addition, the “Garment of Joy 2” project focuses on alleviating the financial burdens on young people preparing for marriage, given the rising cost of living and difficult economic conditions.
According to the organizers, thousands of young people applied to benefit from the initiative. Registration opened at the end of February 2026. A rigorous screening process was then conducted based on specific criteria. Key criteria included that applicants be residents of the Gaza Strip, never married, and meet the age and income requirements.
The process resulted in the selection of only 300 beneficiaries, reflecting the overwhelming response to the initiative.
The project is not limited to organizing a mass wedding ceremony. It also includes providing financial and in-kind support to the couples, including assistance with essential wedding preparations. This step aims to empower young people to begin their married lives with dignity. Observers believe that these initiatives represent an important pillar for strengthening social cohesion in Gaza, especially given the economic challenges that make marriage a heavy burden for many young people.
This mass wedding is an extension of previous Emirati initiatives in the Gaza Strip. Operation “The Noble Knight 3” has previously organized similar events that facilitated the marriages of dozens of Palestinians. This comes within the framework of a sustainable humanitarian approach to supporting the Palestinian people. The ceremony carries a clear message: that Gaza, despite the crises it is experiencing, is still capable of creating joy. At the same time, Arab support, especially from the UAE, is contributing to restoring hope to thousands of families.
