22 mediations since the outbreak of the crisis reinforce the UAE's humanitarian role and support peaceful solutions

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates announced the success of a new mediation effort between Russia and Ukraine, resulting in a prisoner exchange involving 193 prisoners from each side, for a total of 386. This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged through UAE mediation to 6,691 since the start of the crisis.

Praise for the cooperation between the two parties

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the cooperation between the Russian and Ukrainian sides in ensuring the success of these efforts. It affirmed that this reflects the level of mutual trust in the UAE’s role and its endeavors to support peaceful solutions.

22 humanitarian mediation

The ministry explained that this operation represents the 22nd mediation effort undertaken by the UAE since the outbreak of the crisis. It also indicated that this effort is based on the UAE’s balanced relations with both parties, which has contributed to achieving tangible results on the humanitarian front.

Continued diplomatic efforts

The UAE affirmed its continued efforts to support all initiatives aimed at ending the conflict. It stated that it is focusing on mitigating the humanitarian consequences, particularly concerning the issues of prisoners and refugees, thereby enhancing the prospects for reaching a sustainable and peaceful settlement.
