Abu Dhabi, UAE – Khazna Data Centers announced that its DXB8 facility in Dubai has received the Zero Waste certification from SCS Global Services.
This makes it the first data center in the world to achieve this milestone according to internationally recognized standards.
A global achievement in sustainability
Khazna Data Centers confirmed that the facility successfully diverted 99.55% of its waste from landfills during a 12-month audit period.
This reflects the implementation of advanced operational systems for waste management and sorting,
with the exception of IT waste within data centers.
The independent audit revealed that the majority of waste is managed through recycling, reuse, and composting.
Furthermore, there are resale and material recovery programs in place,
aligning with global best practices in waste management and minimizing environmental impact.
supportive corporate culture
Elisabetta Baronio, Khazna Data Centers’s Director of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), stated that achieving
this certification reflects a long-term commitment to sustainability,
built on operational discipline and effective partnerships across the supply chain.
It also contributes to establishing a corporate culture that balances performance with environmental responsibility.
This achievement comes amidst the challenges associated with the complex
and operationally intensive data center sector.
Therefore, achieving “zero waste” standards is a significant step
that reinforces the UAE’s position as a global hub for sustainable digital infrastructure.
