Valletta, Malta – The UAE badminton team won two gold medals during its participation in the 2026 Malta International Championship. Which concluded on Monday, in the women’s singles and mixed doubles competitions.
In the women’s singles competition, Prakriti Bharat, ranked fifth in the tournament, gave a strong performance in the final match. To defeat Hungarian player Agnes Korosi in two unanswered games, “21-16, 21-13”, and win the gold medal.
In the mixed doubles competition, Deren Ayapan and Tape Khan won the gold medal after a strong final against English duo Robin Harper and Yulia Tang. The duo managed to turn the score around and win three games: 18-21, 22-20, and 21-13.
In the men’s singles competition, Bharat Lathish gave an honorable performance by reaching the quarter-finals.
