Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, discussed regional developments during a phone call he received on Thursday from Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

The discussion focused on the escalating military situation and its repercussions on regional security and stability.

During the call, both sides emphasized the importance of prioritizing dialogue

and diplomatic means to address outstanding issues in the region.

They also stressed the need to work towards containing tensions in order to preserve security

and stability at both the regional and international levels.

During the call, the Syrian president reiterated his country’s solidarity

with the UAE in the face of Iranian attacks targeting its territory and several other countries in the region.

He affirmed Syria’s support for all measures

aimed at preserving the UAE’s security and stability.

He noted that the ongoing military escalation threatens regional stability. He also explained that it necessitates international action to contain the tension

and prevent further deterioration of the situation in the region.

Condemnation of the targeting of the UAE consulate

The Syrian president also condemned the attack targeting the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan, describing it as a terrorist attack that violates international norms and conventions guaranteeing the protection of diplomatic missions and their premises.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his gratitude to the Syrian President for his country’s supportive and solidarity-based stance with the UAE in the face of current security challenges.

At the end of the call, both sides stressed the need to intensify international efforts to halt the military escalation. They also emphasized the importance of pursuing political solutions that guarantee the stability and security of the region.
