Under it, rail freight services will be launched between Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman and Abu Dhabi in the UAE.

This agreement represents a significant step towards launching a dedicated rail freight corridor between the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman.

According to the planned plan, Noatom Logistics will launch a daily freight service on the new Hafit Trains railway line after its completion, operating seven container trains throughout the week, with a capacity of up to 276 TEUs per train, equivalent to handling 193,200 TEUs annually.

The agreement includes the provision of trains dedicated to handling typical containers measuring (20, 40, and 45 feet).

Ensuring high and diverse operational capacity from the first day of operation.

This service will cover a wide range of goods currently traded between the two countries.

Including general goods, manufactured products, food commodities, medicines, agricultural food products, and other basic materials.

Samir Chaturvedi, CEO of Nwatom Logistics, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said: “Our partnership with Hafeet Trains represents a significant step in our strategy to deliver integrated logistics solutions across the Middle East. By connecting two of the region’s most important strategic ports via rail for the first time, we are expanding our services and enabling our customers to benefit from an efficient, low-cost, scalable, and sustainable mode of transportation.”

environmentally friendly

As sustainability of supply chains grows in importance regionally and globally, rail transport services are a more efficient and environmentally friendly way.

Compared to traditional land transportation services.

Rail freight services provide more cost-effective solutions, especially when transporting large quantities of containerized goods.

As well as general goods transported over medium to long distances.

The ability of trains to transport huge loads with smaller quantities of fuel also contributes to achieving a significant reduction in carbon emissions per ton.

Which supports customers to achieve sustainability goals, without affecting the operational performance of their businesses.

With the signing of this agreement, Hafeet Trains occupies a pivotal position within a new logistics system.

It would bring about a qualitative shift in goods transportation services between the UAE and Oman.

This enhances the role of railways as a leading catalyst for regional integration and sustainable development, and provides unparalleled competitive advantages for business prosperity.

It is worth noting that the transportation service that Noatom Logistics will provide via the Hafeet train network integrates with the rail freight services it currently provides to connect Khalifa Port and Fujairah Ports, which were launched for the first time in the third quarter of 2024.
