Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that the country is entering a new phase. The nation is moving from a ceasefire to comprehensive agreements that safeguard the rights of the Lebanese people.
Moreover, he emphasized that this phase requires a national approach that strengthens stability and rebuilds state institutions.
We stand with the relationship and with prosperity
In a televised address marking the ceasefire, Aoun said: “Our people are with the relationship,
with prosperity, against suicide. We are life against a war that is repeated every so often and is pointless,”
stressing that the option of the state and stability is the only way out of the recurring crises.
One state, one army, and a rejection of killing
Aoun added: “Nations are not built with slogans and emotions,” stressing: “One state, one constitution to which we are subject,”
and “One armed force to protect the state,” emphasizing that “I will not allow the killing of a single Lebanese citizen after today.”
Clear objectives and warning
Aoun continued, “I am ready to bear the responsibility and go anywhere, knowing that you are with me,”
adding, “This pain will not last forever for the sake of foreign agendas,” and “Our goal is clear and declared:
to stop the aggression and return the prisoners and citizens to their cities and villages.”
The Lebanese president concluded by emphasizing, “To those who are gambling
with the lives of the Lebanese people, I say: Enough playing with the lives of our citizens.”
