Manchester, England – Manchester City Football Club announced today the appointment of Italian Enzo Maresca as the first team’s manager, succeeding Spaniard Pep Guardiola, to lead the “Citizens” in the coming period.
The club explained in a statement on its official website that Maresca signed a three-season contract, keeping him in his position until the summer of 2029.
The statement read: “Manchester City is delighted to announce the appointment of Enzo Maresca as first-team manager and wishes him every success in his new role”.
For his part, Ferran Soriano, the club’s chief executive, expressed his confidence in the Italian coach, stressing that he was the first choice to take on the job, given his technical vision and leadership qualities that align with Manchester City’s philosophy.
He added: “We know Enzo well, and we are aware of his technical abilities and his passion for football. His previous experience at Manchester City, along with his successes with Chelsea and Leicester City, made him the most suitable candidate to lead the team”.

Maresca previously coached Chelsea from the summer of 2024 until January 2026, and also worked within the coaching staff of Manchester City, contributing to the team’s historic treble.
