Washington, USA – The Swiss national team achieved a resounding victory over their counterparts from Bosnia and Herzegovina with a score of 4-1, in the match that brought them together at the Los Angeles stadium, as part of the second round of Group B in the 2026 World Cup.
Manzambi shines with a brace
Johan Manzambi opened the scoring for the Swiss national team in the 74th minute, before Ruben Vargas reinforced the result with the second goal in the 84th minute.
Manzambi returned to add his second personal goal and his country’s third in the 90th minute, while Granit Xhaka completed the rout in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
Expulsion complicates Bosnia’s calculations
The match saw Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Tarik Mahremovic sent off in the 80th minute, forcing his team to finish the final minutes with ten players, while Ermin Mahmic scored a consolation goal for his country in stoppage time.
Switzerland takes the lead
With this victory, the Swiss national team raised its tally to 4 points from a win and a draw, temporarily taking the lead in Group B and moving a big step closer to securing qualification for the next round, while the Bosnian and Herzegovinian national team’s tally remained at one point in third place.
