Venue: Match Stadium – The Swedish national team secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Tunisia in their opening match of the Group F stage at the World Cup 2026. Consequently, the Swedes kicked off their tournament campaign with a powerful attacking display that highlighted their high ambitions. Moreover, star striker Alexander Isak delivered a stellar performance, while Viktor Gyokeres proved to be a clinical partner in the attacking line. As a result, Sweden established early control over the match, dismantling the Tunisian defense. Thus, Sweden successfully left its first mark on the World Cup 2026.

Match Dynamics and Decisive Goals

Yasin Ayari opened the scoring for Sweden in the 7th minute with a spectacular long-range strike, followed by Alexander Isak’s goal in the 30th minute. Consequently, the Tunisian side attempted a comeback with a goal from Omar Rekik just before halftime. On the other hand, Sweden regained control in the second half through a Viktor Gyokeres goal in the 60th minute, before Mattias Svanberg sealed the 4-1 victory in the 87th minute following a VAR review. Ultimately, this win demonstrated Sweden’s tactical cohesion and readiness to compete at the World Cup 2026.

Group F Challenges

Group F also features Japan and the Netherlands, making the race for qualification spots highly competitive. Accordingly, the Tunisian team will look to recover in the coming rounds to compensate for this opening loss. In addition, observers are keenly watching developments at the World Cup 2026, where opening matches have showcased a high level of competition among participating nations. Accordingly, all eyes remain on the upcoming challenges for both Sweden and Tunisia, as each team aspires to improve its standing in the table before the final round.
