Seattle, USA – Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that the “Pharaohs” are entering the 2026 World Cup with great ambitions, stressing the players’ desire to achieve a distinguished run and make the Egyptian fans happy during the tournament.
The United States, Canada and Mexico will host the World Cup from June 11 to July 19, with 48 teams participating for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Salah told Sky Sports: “Our entire focus is on the current camp and preparing in the best possible way. We have to work hard during the coming period, and then we will see what the group matches will bring.”
The Egyptian national team captain added: “We want to make the Egyptian people happy, and we will do our utmost to achieve that.”
He continued: “We know that the group is very strong, and every team has its chances and opportunity to compete, so we have to give our best in every match”.
Salah concluded his remarks by emphasizing the team’s ambition to achieve success in the World Cup, saying: “We will fight in all matches, and we hope to reach the furthest possible stage in the tournament”.
The Egyptian national team had concluded its preparations for the World Cup with a 2-1 friendly loss to Brazil, in its last test before the start of the official competitions.
The Pharaohs will begin their World Cup campaign with a tough match against Belgium on June 15, in Group G, which also includes Iran and New Zealand.
