Harrison, USA – The Moroccan national team concluded its preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals with a 1-1 draw against Norway. The friendly match took place Sunday evening at Sports Illustrated in Harrison, New Jersey.
The “Atlas Lions” entered the match with high morale after the strong results they achieved in their training camp in Morocco, and succeeded in imposing their advantage early on against the Norwegian team.
Ibrahim Diaz opened the scoring for the Moroccan national team in the eighth minute, after he fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of the net, giving his team the advantage from the first few minutes.
The score remained unchanged until the second half, before Martin Odegaard managed to equalize for the Norwegian team in the 75th minute with a well-placed shot from inside the penalty area.
The draw comes after a series of positive results for Morocco during the preparation period. They achieved two resounding victories against Burundi and Madagascar with scores of 4-0 and 5-0, respectively, before heading to the United States for the final stage of their preparations.
The Moroccan national team is preparing to open its World Cup campaign with a tough match against Brazil on June 14, in Group C, which also includes Scotland and Haiti.
The Atlas Lions are scheduled to meet Scotland in the second round on June 20, before concluding the group stage against Haiti on June 25.
