Montevideo, Uruguay – Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa, manager of the Uruguayan national team, revealed the final squad that will compete in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The next edition of the World Cup will kick off on June 11 and run until July 19, with 48 teams participating for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Uruguay is in Group H, which also includes Spain, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde.
Uruguay will begin their World Cup campaign against Saudi Arabia on June 16, then meet Cape Verde on June 22, before concluding their group stage matches with a tough encounter against Spain on June 27.
Uruguay’s squad for the 2026 World Cup is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Sergio Rochet, Fernando Muslera, Santiago Mele. Defenders: Guillermo Varela, Ronald Araujo, Jose Maria Gimenez, Santiago Bueno, Sebastian Caceres, Matias Olivera, Joaquin Pequeres, Matias Viña.
Midfielders: Manuel Ugarte, Emiliano Martinez, Rodrigo Bentancur, Federico Valverde, Agustin Canobbio, Juan Manuel Sanabria, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Nicolas De La Cruz, Rodrigo Salazar, Facundo Pellistri, Maximiliano Araujo, Bryan Rodriguez.
