London, England – Liverpool FC announced on Saturday that Dutchman Arne Sloat, the team’s manager, will leave his post at the end of the current season.
This comes after a disappointing season for the team under the Dutch manager, during which they failed to win any trophies and finished fifth in the English Premier League.
Liverpool had signed Slott to be the team’s new manager during the summer of 2024, succeeding German Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool Football Club released an official statement on its website confirming the termination of its contractual relationship with manager Arne Slot. The club also expressed its appreciation for the Dutchman’s contributions to the team during his tenure.
Liverpool indicated in its statement that Slott had left, and that a replacement was being sought for him in the coming period.
Liverpool said in an official statement: “There is no doubt that this decision was difficult for us as a club. Arne’s contribution to Liverpool during his time with us has been significant and impactful, and most importantly for the fans and for us, it has been a success”.
He added: “Therefore, our appreciation for all that he has accomplished is great, especially since it was supported by high work ethic, diligence, and a high level of expertise, which confirms our view that he is a leader in his field”.
He explained: “From the first moment we met Arne, it was clear to us that he is someone who not only accepts responsibility, but embraces it wholeheartedly. This was clearly demonstrated when he agreed to take on the role of technical director. Also, when he led us to win the Premier League title. And throughout the past season, in which he faced enormous challenges and burdens”.
He added: “At the same time, we all came to the conviction that change was necessary for the club to continue moving forward. And once again, it must be emphasized that this decision was not taken lightly, quite the contrary”.
He continued: “We would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to Arne, who will always hold a special place in the history of this football club as the manager who led Liverpool to their 20th league title”.
He continued: “This achievement is all the more remarkable because it was accomplished in his first season at the helm of the team’s technical management. It was also built on outstanding daily training and leadership”.
He added: “He also helped lead the club through one of the most difficult periods imaginable after Diogo’s departure. The compassion and humanity he showed throughout that time speaks volumes about his character”.
The statement continued: “Therefore, we wish Arne all the best in the next stage of his coaching career, and we expect him to achieve even greater success. We are confident that his legacy with Liverpool will remain and grow in value in the years and decades to come”.
He continued: “However, the decision we reached is based on our belief that the best course for the team is to change direction. This does not diminish what Arne has done here, nor our respect for him. It does not reflect his talent, but rather the need for a different approach”.
He added: “Arnie leaves the club and we are grateful to him, having won the Premier League title. He is sure that he and his family will always be welcome at Anfield”.
