Liverpool manager Arne Sloat has addressed recent comments made by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah following the Reds’ defeat to Aston Villa in the last round of the English Premier League.
During the press conference ahead of the Brentford match, Slott stated that he and Mohamed Salah share the goal of getting Liverpool back on track. He added that achieving success for the club is a crucial objective.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told the Liverpool Echo: “I have to get Mohamed Salah and the rest of the players ready for the Brentford game. We were all certainly disappointed after the Aston Villa game”.
He continued: “Salah and I share the same ambitions, and we always want the best for the club. Together we contributed to making the fans happy by winning the league title last season. But we haven’t reached the same level this season. We are striving to repeat that success again”.
Regarding the possibility of Mohamed Salah playing against Brentford, Slott refused to reveal his tactical decisions, saying: “I don’t usually talk about team selections, but we know very well what we need in the next match. In addition, we want to finish the season well in front of our fans”.
The Dutch coach pointed out that the team went through difficult periods this season, explaining: “We faced a lot of disappointments, whether for the club, the fans, or the players. Therefore, we want to end the season with a victory that gives everyone a positive feeling”.
Slot comments on Salah’s remarks regarding playing style
Slott also touched on Salah’s comments about the style of play, saying: “Mohamed Salah has his own ideas and vision, but this same style led us to win the league last season. He was happy to play with it then. In the end, we both want what’s best for the team”.
He added: “Football has changed a lot, and the English league has become more difficult and stronger. Matches are no longer decided as easily as they were years ago. In addition, the gap between teams has become much smaller”.
He continued: “We strive to continuously develop the team so that we can compete strongly next season. We also aim to deliver football that satisfies the fans and achieves the desired results”.
Slot concluded his remarks by emphasizing his desire to improve the team’s performance, saying: “We want to succeed again, and we must work on developing our style of play so that we can return to competing in a manner befitting Liverpool”.
