Washington, DC – US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released details of the military operation conducted by US forces against targets inside Iran, confirming that the third round of strikes concluded after targeting approximately 140 military sites across various regions. These strikes were part of a three-day military campaign that targeted more than 300 sites.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation was in response to attacks targeting US interests and international shipping. It noted that the strikes were carried out using advanced fighter jets, drones, and naval vessels. Furthermore, precision-guided munitions were employed, with the aim of degrading Iran’s military capabilities and preventing a recurrence of attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement added that the list of targets included ballistic missile and drone launch sites, ammunition storage facilities, command and control centers, and military communications networks. It also included coastal surveillance sites and naval capabilities that Washington said were used to threaten regional shipping.
Central Command confirmed that the military operations were conducted under the direct orders of the US president. It stated that the primary objective was to protect US forces and ensure the continued freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most important waterways.
Regarding maritime navigation, the Command clarified that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continues despite ongoing security tensions and military escalation in the region. It affirmed that it continues to monitor the situation in coordination with allies and international partners.
In contrast, Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official statement responding to Washington’s claims regarding the scale or results of the strikes, as of the time of this report. Meanwhile, the international community is closely monitoring developments amid growing concerns about the escalation of the conflict and its impact on regional security and global energy markets.
Observers believe that the US announcement of targeting more than 300 sites over three days reflects an unprecedented military escalation. This could open the door to a new phase of confrontation between Washington and Tehran, even as international diplomatic efforts continue to contain the crisis and prevent it from escalating into a wider regional conflict.
