Washington, DC – US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) set a historic record with nearly 51,000 arrests last month. This action was part of an intensified immigration enforcement campaign under President Donald Trump. Figures released by ICE and US media reports indicate that the average number of arrests was approximately 1,645 per day throughout the month.
This total surpassed the previous record of 43,000 arrests set in June. It marked the second consecutive month of unprecedented enforcement activity. Moreover, this sharp increase also reflects the U.S. administration’s efforts to expand immigration enforcement. Federal agencies have received strict directives to identify and deport undocumented immigrants from the United States.
Expanding the scope of operations in states and airports
The extensive operations extended across the country. In Georgia alone, a major crackdown resulted in the arrest of 1,226 people for immigration violations. Data also revealed that more than 30 people were detained at airports as part of the expanded enforcement efforts. These arrests coincided with Department of Homeland Security reports indicating a significant increase in deportations. A total of 356,389 people were deported during the current fiscal year through June.

The Department of Homeland Security defended these aggressive campaigns, deeming them essential for enforcing the rule of law and removing threats to public safety. In this context, Homeland Security Secretary Marquin Mullen stated, “There’s a reason why 80% of Americans support our sensible efforts to remove illegal criminals from our communities, and by removing them, we make America safe again.”
