Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan has affirmed Iran’s right to possess ballistic missiles within the framework of its national defense capabilities. It stated that Tehran is no different from other countries seeking to strengthen their military systems to protect their national security and preserve their sovereignty.

Pakistani officials said that possessing defensive deterrent capabilities is a sovereign right of states according to their security and strategic needs. They also stressed the importance of addressing armament issues according to balanced standards that apply to all parties without exception.

Islamabad added that regional stability requires addressing security concerns through dialogue and diplomacy, not by imposing double standards or taking selective stances on arms programs in the region. It noted that many countries possess advanced missile arsenals as part of their defense strategies.

The Pakistani statements come amid ongoing international debate regarding Iran’s missile program. Tehran considers it an essential component of its national deterrence and defense system, while some countries are calling for additional restrictions on it within any future security arrangements or agreements.

Observers believe that Pakistan’s position reflects Islamabad’s commitment to supporting political solutions to regional crises. It also underscores respect for the sovereignty of states and their right to possess the defense capabilities they deem necessary for their national security.

Pakistan also stressed the need to avoid any steps that could escalate tensions in the Middle East. It called on all parties to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to maintain regional security and stability, especially given the growing security challenges facing the region.

Pakistan and Iran have longstanding political, economic, and security ties. Both countries are keen to enhance cooperation in various areas, including border security, trade, and energy. This gives Islamabad’s statements particular significance in the context of current regional developments.
