Beirut, Lebanon – Israeli media confirmed Tuesday morning that a barrage of rockets was launched from Lebanese territory toward the Galilee region in northern Israel. This prompted the immediate activation of Israeli air defenses to intercept the rockets and prevent them from landing in populated areas.
In a more detailed report, Israel’s Channel 12 stated that several interceptions were detected. Air defense systems were also heavily activated in the Metula area, specifically in the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel.
Loud explosions from successive missile interceptions reverberated across the northern region, prompting a high state of alert among Israeli forces stationed there.
These rapid developments on the ground come amid an ongoing military escalation along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Israeli attempt to advance towards the Kafr Tibnit crossing thwarted
On the ground, Hezbollah issued an official statement last night reporting that it had successfully repelled an Israeli military force that attempted a surprise advance towards the Kfar Tebnit crossing in southern Lebanon. As a result, the advancing force was forced to retreat and withdraw immediately from the targeted area.
Merkava tanks targeted and fierce clashes ensued.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency’s morning report, the party’s statement added that the Israeli occupation army subsequently took escalatory steps. It heavily redeployed its forces around the aforementioned crossing area by bringing in a large armored force.
The statement clarified that this Israeli armored force consisted of five advanced Merkava tanks. Furthermore, it also included four other supporting military vehicles.
In a swift response to this Israeli military action, the statement clearly indicated that these vehicles and tanks were directly and precisely targeted with accurate missile strikes and heavy artillery fire.
The same statement noted that fierce and intense armed clashes had taken place between the two sides in the vicinity of the aforementioned area. These clashes continued for some time, reflecting the escalating tension on Lebanon’s southern border.
