Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan has warned of escalating security and terrorist threats emanating from Afghan territory, asserting that armed groups are active in some border areas and are exploiting the instability to carry out attacks targeting Pakistani security.
Pakistani officials confirmed that their country is closely monitoring security developments along the shared border with Afghanistan, noting that some militant organizations still possess the capability to conduct cross-border operations. This poses a growing challenge to security and stability in the region.
Officials explained that the Pakistani government has taken a series of measures to strengthen border control and raise the level of security preparedness, in addition to intensifying field operations against armed elements that threaten the country’s security and the safety of its citizens.
Islamabad also called on the international community to support efforts to combat terrorism in the region. It further called for action to prevent extremist groups from using Afghan territory as safe havens or centers for planning, recruitment, and operations.
Pakistan affirmed that achieving stability in Afghanistan is essential for enhancing regional security, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between regional countries and Afghan authorities to address shared challenges and prevent the escalation of violence and extremism.
This warning comes amidst ongoing regional and international concerns regarding the increased activity of certain armed groups, and calls for enhanced security and intelligence coordination among the countries involved. The aim is to mitigate terrorist threats and safeguard stability in South and Central Asia in the coming period.
