Beijing, China – At the conclusion of his official visit to China, US President Donald Trump issued his strongest warning yet to the Iranian leadership, asserting that his patience was wearing thin regarding their stalling tactics in negotiations.
During a press conference following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Zhongnanhai complex in Beijing, Trump announced a strategic agreement between Washington and Beijing to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He also emphasized the importance of keeping international straits open for navigation.
The summit meeting in Beijing and Chinese mediation
Trump revealed that his talks with President Xi Jinping resulted in what Reuters described as historic agreements. China pledged not to supply any military equipment to Iran and also committed to contributing to the stability of energy markets.
Trump stated, “We solved problems that others couldn’t solve.” He further indicated that Beijing had become a partner in the effort to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the regional dispute.
Leadership “fractures” and “Space Force” warnings
In an interview with Hannity on Fox News, Trump claimed that the top three levels of leadership in Iran had been neutralized. He described the current leadership as “broken,” though he considered the new officials “more rational.” Regarding the nuclear issue, Trump downplayed the strategic importance of the remaining enriched uranium at the targeted sites. He described the attempt to seize it as a “public relations exercise” to reassure allies and Israel.
He warned that any Iranian activity within those sites would be monitored by U.S. Space Force technology. This technology monitors “every inch” around the clock. He asserted that the military response would be “immediate and immediate,” and could include bombing the sites again to completely destroy them.
Naval blockade and the option of force
This political escalation coincided with the continuation of the crippling naval blockade imposed by the US fleet on Iranian ports since last April.
Trump confirmed that US forces had been closely monitoring Iranian military movements over the past four weeks. He also stressed that his country was capable of “eliminating them in one day” if Tehran continued to refuse to conclude a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement. Trump concluded his remarks by emphasizing that reaching a permanent ceasefire was the best option to avoid more decisive action. He placed the onus on Tehran to choose its next course of action before it was too late.
