Paris, France – French President Emmanuel Macron called for the preservation of the ceasefire in the Middle East.

He urged efforts to transform it into a genuine entry point for a broader peace process,

given the ongoing tensions that threaten to reignite conflicts in several areas of the region.

Launching a comprehensive political process

Macron remarks come at a time of cautious calm in the region, following repeated escalations in recent months.

These developments have prompted several European capitals to intensify

their diplomatic efforts to prevent the collapse of any existing agreements.

In his recent statements, the French president emphasized that the ceasefire should not remain merely a temporary truce.

Rather, it must be built upon to launch a comprehensive political process that addresses the root causes of the crises.

He also stressed the importance of reviving the concept of just settlements that guarantee security and stability for all parties.

Economic and security repercussions

France is playing an active role within the European Union in pushing for diplomatic solutions.

Paris seeks to coordinate Western positions on regional issues.

France is also focused on de-escalating confrontations and opening political channels of communication instead of military escalation.

Observers believe that Macron call reflects growing European concern about the widening scope of the conflict.

This concern is heightened by its economic and security repercussions that extend beyond the Middle East,

encompassing energy markets, migration, and regional security.

Meanwhile, the chances of establishing a lasting ceasefire remain contingent on deeper understandings between the key players.

This is occurring amidst political and field complexities that make any long-term peace process extremely difficult.

Nevertheless, this option remains on the table to avoid further rounds of escalation.
