Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump announced that he does not rule out sending American troops to Iranian territory if circumstances require it. He affirmed that the US military possesses all the necessary capabilities to wage a potential large-scale war. Trump’s remarks came amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, following a series of Iranian missile attacks targeting American and Israeli interests in the region.
Trump stated at a press conference that “American forces are ready and prepared for any scenario,” adding that “the United States will not allow Iran to threaten regional security or international navigation.” The US president affirmed that pressure on Iran would continue through economic sanctions. Furthermore, joint military exercises with US allies in the region would continue.
In a related context, US military expert John Hegseth warned that “any military action against Iran would be fraught with risks and could lead to a major regional escalation that would destabilize the Middle East and disrupt global shipping lanes.”
These statements come at a time of heightened tension in the region following attacks on military bases in Iraq. Additionally, missiles were launched at Israel, prompting major powers to issue urgent calls for de-escalation and a halt to military action. This comes amid fears that the crisis could spiral into a full-blown confrontation that could engulf the entire region.
