Cuban President: Chinese President’s Global Governance Initiative Has the World’s Trust

Observers believe that the Cuban president's statements reflect the convergence of views between Havana and Beijing on numerous issues, particularly those related to the principle of international multilateralism and the rejection of hegemony. This gives bilateral relations new momentum as they enter their seventh decade.

Cairo, Egypt – Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the global governance initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He described it as embodying the values ​​of justice and integrity. Additionally, he mentioned it as a model the world can trust in the face of current challenges.

In an interview with China Media Group (CCTV-CGTN), Díaz-Canel emphasized that his country looks forward to a broader future of partnership with Beijing. This comes especially as the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China approaches. He described these relations as “deep and strategic.”

Early support from Cuba

The Cuban president revealed that Havana was among the first countries to announce its support for the Chinese initiative following its launch at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. He considered it an extension of other Chinese initiatives. These initiatives call for “building a community with a shared future for humanity.”

China and the Peaceful Development Model

He added, “China has always sought development based on peace, cooperation, friendship, and solidarity. With its pioneering achievements and international credibility, this initiative highlights China’s just and responsible commitment to global issues.”
