Cairo, Egypt – Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy condemned the continued Iranian aggression against several Arab states. He also affirmed the Arab League’s rejection of these violations.
Furthermore, he called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities
and take effective steps to halt these attacks, given the escalating regional tensions.
Condemnation of Iranian attacks
Nabil Fahmy affirmed that the Arab League condemns the continued Iranian aggression against several Arab states.
He stressed that these practices constitute an unacceptable violation of international law and the sovereignty of nations.
And he further explained that they exacerbate instability in the region.
He added that the Arab League cannot accept any justification for the Iranian aggression.
He deemed these actions unacceptable and reprehensible.
Moreover, these actions necessitate a firm international stance that guarantees
respect for the sovereignty of states and protects their security and stability.
Call for Security Council action
The Secretary-General of the Arab League called on the UN Security Council to uphold its legal
and political responsibilities and take effective steps to halt Iranian violations.
He also called for action to ensure respect for international law.
He further stressed the importance of preventing any actions
that threaten regional peace and security.
He noted that the continuation of these attacks necessitates more effective international action.
This would contribute to containing the escalation and maintaining regional stability.
Supporting the right of states to defend their sovereignty
Nabil Fahmy stressed the Arab League’s support for all legitimate measures taken
by countries to defend their sovereignty and protect their territories and national security.
This comes in accordance with the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter.
He stressed the importance of strengthening international and regional efforts
to maintain the security of the region and prevent further escalation.
He stressed that respecting the sovereignty of countries and not interfering in
their internal affairs represents a fundamental pillar for achieving stability and peace in the Middle East.
