Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE Presidential Court has declared four days of official mourning following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, father of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Flags have also been flown at half-staff at all government offices, embassies, and diplomatic missions abroad.
Four days of official mourning
The Presidential Court announced that the mourning period begins on Sunday, July 12,
and continues until the end of Wednesday, July 15.
During this period, flags will be flown at half-staff at all government institutions within the UAE.
Additionally, flags will be flown at half-staff at UAE embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.
The statement emphasized that this decision expresses condolences and solidarity
with the State of Qatar, its leadership, and its people in this time of grief.
Condolences and prayers for the deceased
The Presidential Court’s statement included a prayer for the deceased, saying:
“May God have mercy on the deceased and grant him a place in Paradise,
and may He grant the Al Thani family patience and solace. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”
This decision reflects the deep fraternal ties between the UAE and the State of Qatar.
