Ankara, Turkey – A Turkish official told Reuters that the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement is not restricted solely to its founding members. Consequently, he affirmed that the treaty remains open to other regional states to strengthen collective defense initiatives.

Furthermore, he noted that joining the pact requires fulfilling criteria mutually agreed upon by current member states. As a result, the initiative aims to enhance military readiness, information sharing, and joint operational response capabilities.

Regional Security Alignment and Membership Protocols

On the other hand, the official emphasized that broadening the defense framework seeks to stabilize regional security and streamline military protocols. Specifically, these remarks coincide with heightened diplomatic activity across the regional security landscape.

Additionally, admitting new members remains subject to formal consultations and full consensus among founding states. Consequently, this openness could pave the way for expanded security architecture and multilateral defense integration.

Finally, this announcement underscores the flexible framework of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement and its potential for regional expansion. Ultimately, regional stakeholders await further developments regarding potential candidate states in the coming phase.
