Paris, France – Russia officially rejected allegations from French authorities regarding interference in its internal affairs, reaffirming that Moscow does not intervene in other sovereign nations’ political processes. Consequently, this denial followed the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office launching an investigation into alleged Russian meddling ahead of France’s 2027 presidential election.

Furthermore, the Russian Embassy in Paris described framing accusations against Moscow without concrete evidence as a routine tactic by French officials. As a result, diplomats asserted that Paris resorts to external scapegoating whenever faced with domestic political or economic challenges.

Diplomatic Tensions and the 2027 Electoral Outlook

On the other hand, the embassy expressed hope that international judicial bodies would examine documented French interference in external elections, citing examples in Moldova and Armenia. Specifically, this diplomatic spat highlights escalating friction between Russia and Western capitals linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Additionally, French political parties are already preparing for the presidential election set for April 2027, which marks a transition period as President Emmanuel Macron is constitutionally ineligible for a third consecutive term. Consequently, French institutions remain heightened against potential foreign disinformation efforts surrounding this critical election cycle.

Finally, this sharp exchange underscores the deepening geopolitical rift and mutual mistrust between Paris and Moscow. Ultimately, the ongoing legal inquiry and diplomatic rhetoric signal an intensely volatile run-up to the 2027 French presidential race.
