Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Armed Forces announced today that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iran after they entered Jordanian airspace. The Armed Forces emphasized that the operation was part of defensive measures aimed at protecting Jordan’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens.
The Jordanian military confirmed that its air defense and monitoring units engaged the missiles immediately upon detection and successfully intercepted them according to established rules of engagement, without any damage or casualties within Jordanian territory.
He noted that the armed forces are continuously monitoring the regional situation around the clock, maintaining a high level of readiness to address any developments or threats that may affect the Kingdom’s security or the integrity of its airspace.
The army emphasized that Jordan will not allow its airspace to be violated or its territory to be used in any regional conflict, stressing that protecting national sovereignty and the safety of citizens are top priorities in light of the escalating tensions in the region.
This announcement comes at a time of increasing military escalation in the region, amid regional and international calls to contain the tension and prevent a wider confrontation in order to preserve security and stability in the Middle East.
