  • Developing safety and transparency standards

San Francisco, USA – The CEO of Anthropic rejected calls to ban open-source AI models, stressing that the solution lies not in preventing these technologies, but in establishing clear regulatory frameworks that ensure

their responsible use, while maintaining the pace of innovation in the sector.

Developing artificial intelligence research

He explained that open models are a crucial element in advancing AI research and fostering competition,

noting that imposing sweeping restrictions on them could stifle innovation

and hinder the ability of companies and researchers to develop new technological solutions.

At the same time, he warned that tightening restrictions on US companies could

give China an opportunity to strengthen its position in the global AI race,

emphasizing that competition among major powers in this field is accelerating at an unprecedented pace,

and that maintaining leadership requires striking a balance between security and innovation.

Developing safety and transparency standards

He added that addressing the risks associated with artificial intelligence should rely on developing standards for safety, transparency,

and oversight, rather than resorting to outright bans on open technologies.

He noted that cooperation between governments and technology companies

will be a crucial factor in shaping the future of this sector.

This stance comes at a time when the world is witnessing widespread debate

about how to regulate artificial intelligence technologies,

amid growing concerns about their misuse, coinciding with intensifying competition

between the United States and China to lead the next generation of digital innovations.
