Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi government has reaffirmed Baghdad’s full readiness to contribute to diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalating regional tensions and preventing further expansion of conflict. At the same time, official spokespersons emphasized Iraq’s absolute rejection of any external intervention or strikes targeting its sovereign territory.

Protecting Sovereignty and Diplomatic Outreach

An official government spokesperson stated that protecting national security and sovereignty remains Baghdad’s utmost priority. Iraq continues to engage with regional and international partners to foster political and diplomatic solutions. The official noted that Iraq’s foreign policy relies on balanced relations with neighboring states to safeguard national interests and bolster regional stability.

Impact of the Strait of Hormuz Closure and Alternative Routes

Addressing maritime disruptions, the spokesperson acknowledged that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has created direct economic ramifications for supply chains and trade flow. The Iraqi government is closely monitoring the situation and implementing measures to secure alternative transit routes to ensure the uninterrupted movement of vital goods and oil exports.

Economic Resilience and Maritime Safety: Baghdad renewed its call to protect international navigation and maritime security, urging all involved parties to exercise restraint and pursue dialogue to mitigate the broader economic and security consequences across the region.
