The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned the Iranian Charge d’Affaires in Amman today, Sunday, to deliver a strongly worded official protest note regarding the ongoing missile attacks targeting Jordanian territory. This diplomatic move comes amid heightened security tensions, with the Jordanian military confirming the interception of Iranian missiles attempting to breach Jordanian airspace
“Jordan’s Security is a Red Line”
Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Majali, emphasized that Jordan delivered a clear and firm message to the Iranian side, demanding the immediate cessation of these “brutal and unjustified” attacks. Majali asserted that Jordan’s security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens are a “red line that cannot be violated,” stressing that the Kingdom will take all available and necessary measures to protect its land and people in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Protest Against “Inflammatory Statements”
The protest note was not limited to the field attacks; it also condemned the “provocative and inflammatory” statements issued by Iranian official bodies against the Kingdom. Jordan demanded that the Iranian side cease these statements, which exacerbate the situation, reaffirming its total rejection of any attempts to interfere in its affairs or threaten its internal stability.
Solidarity with Gulf States
in a related context, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry reiterated its condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Amman affirmed its full solidarity with its Gulf brothers and its support for all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents.
Steadfast Sovereign Stance: This diplomatic step falls within Jordan’s consistent strategy to protect its borders. The Ministry reaffirmed that the Kingdom will continue to take all available steps to ensure its security, while maintaining its commitment to international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
