Quneitra, Syria – Israeli forces have launched a new incursion into the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, with military vehicles entering a border area and establishing a new checkpoint amidst heightened security measures. This move reflects the continued Israeli military activity in the region. Local sources reported that an Israeli military force, supported by armored vehicles and engineering equipment, advanced into a village in the Quneitra countryside before setting up a checkpoint and a military barrier to monitor traffic, while simultaneously conducting search operations in the surrounding area.
The sources added that Israeli forces conducted field operations, including inspecting some sites near the separation line, and imposed temporary restrictions on the movement of residents in the vicinity of the barrier, without reporting any clashes or injuries.
This move comes amid continued security tensions in southern Syria, where the region witnesses intermittent Israeli military movements. Tel Aviv claims these movements are aimed at preventing any security threats near its borders, while Damascus considers them a violation of its sovereignty and international law. For its part, the United Nations forces operating in the Disengagement Zone continue to monitor the situation along the separation line, amid international calls for restraint and avoiding any steps that could lead to a new escalation in the region, especially given the ongoing regional tensions.
