New York, USA – United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, affirmed the commitment to increasing coordinated humanitarian support to hard-to-reach areas in southern Lebanon.
This comes as part of international efforts to meet the needs of the affected population.
Expanding the scope of aid
Fletcher explained that the United Nations continues to coordinate its efforts
with humanitarian partners to ensure that essential aid reaches the areas most in need,
especially those facing logistical and security challenges.
Priority for affected areas
He noted that humanitarian operations focus on delivering food, medicine,
and basic services to people in hard-to-reach areas,
while working to overcome obstacles hindering the access of relief teams.
Ongoing international coordination
The United Nations official stressed the importance of continued coordination
between the UN, humanitarian organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
This will ensure a stronger humanitarian response and alleviate the suffering of civilians in southern Lebanon.
