Makkah, Saudi Arabia – The manufacturing of the new Kaaba cover continues at the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kaaba Cover in Makkah, employing a comprehensive system that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. The various stages of production take more than 300 working hours, reflecting the great care the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia dedicates to serving the Holy Kaaba and the Two Holy Mosques.
The process of creating the cover begins with dyeing natural silk black, followed by weaving, printing, and embroidery, culminating in final assembly. All of this is done according to the highest standards of quality and precision, ensuring the cover is produced in a manner befitting the sanctity of the Holy House of God.
A select group of skilled national artisans and technicians participate in this task, undertaking the intricate hand-embroidery using gold and silver threads to weave Quranic verses and Islamic motifs that adorn the Kaaba cover. This work demands exceptional skill and meticulous precision.
The complex houses specialized workshops equipped with state-of-the-art technology and machinery, while also relying on human expertise for the most delicate stages. All components of the cover undergo comprehensive inspection and review before being finalized for its annual replacement.
